00:00 In this week’s CCJ Tech Shorts, we’ll share a new electronic on-board weighing technology, Verizon’s extended view cameras, a new partnership that helps carriers track shipments and trips online and more.

00:24 Verizon Connect has launched two advanced solutions.

The first is its new extended view cameras that deliver near-360-degree visibility with rear, side and cargo cameras. The four additional cameras and in-cab monitor aim to enhance visibility and driver performance while reducing liability and costs.

The second is a customizable Driver Vehicle Inspection Report, designed to simplify compliance and maintenance through the Verizon Connect Reveal fleet management software platform. This solution consolidates compliance and inspection tracking into a single platform, helping fleets operate safely and efficiently.

It features tailored forms to meet specific company requirements; visual evidence by allowing drivers to upload photos of vehicle damage or issues; real-time alerts of incomplete inspections or detected vehicle defects to help prevent costly repairs or fines; and integration with third-party maintenance providers to reduce vehicle downtime.

01:20 Air-Weigh, a provider of electronic on-board weighing technology, has rolled out a new product that uses Bluetooth integration and will run on any fleet or equipment type.

The iWeigh platform delivers consistently accurate weight data using its proprietary Smart Weights feature. It can be integrated into vehicle or third-party telematics and adapts to any configuration, including truck, trailer or tractor-trailer, supporting both air and mechanical suspensions.

The technology eliminates the need for multiple scale systems.

On-board scales like iWeigh offer significant advantages for fleets compared to traditional in-ground scales. They eliminate time-consuming stops at weigh stations, allowing drivers to remain on the road and meet delivery schedules more efficiently. By providing real-time weight data, on-board scales help fleets avoid overweight fines, optimize payloads and reduce fuel costs associated with detours. Additionally, proper load management enhances safety and minimizes wear and tear on vehicles, reducing maintenance expenses and extending equipment life.

02:22 A new partnership helps carriers track shipments and trips online.

Mothership, a tech marketplace that matches freight with carriers, has partnered with Rectangle, a logistics platform that unifies data and communications, to help carriers and logistics providers manage orders, share real-time tracking details and automate documents on Flexport and other platforms.

Mothership offers real-time tracking, automated dispatch, digital documentation and a freight application programming interface, enabling integrations with transportation management systems and other logistics platforms in the industry to quote, book, track and keep shipment records instantly and reliably.

The API connects and tenders freight instantly to carriers and provides visibility into driver locations, up-to-date arrival times and automatic status-change alerts.

03:11 McLeod Software, a TMS provider for freight brokers and carriers, has released its latest update, Version 25.1.

The update includes streamlined financial processes by automating data exchange between LoadMaster, PowerBroker and QuickBooks Online. PowerBroker now features an advanced commission calculation and payment system that offers flexible margin definitions and the ability to analyze or exclude accessorial charges.

The update also includes web-based access for DocumentPower.

In addition, it introduces better visibility for late loads with new tools like the “Tracking Late” Badge task filters, helping customer service teams proactively manage delays and prevent escalation.

The new “Email to Order” API allows businesses to automate order creation by transforming electronically sent data into system entries. And McLeod has enhanced Driver Sidekick with turn-by-turn navigation.

Additional improvements include real-time updates for tender management, expanded reporting tools for revenue tracking and integration dashboards to streamline compliance.
