As reported during the Mid-America Trucking Show last month, Kenworth is commemorating the end of its iconic W900 model with a special Legacy Edition numbered series to close out the W900’s 60-plus-year history.

At MATS, Overdrive Video Editor Lawson Rudisill caught up with Bri Potthast, Kenworth's on-highway marketing manager, for the walkaround video of the special-edition W900 at the top -- it's the first, number 1,000 W900 to be part of the series, with subsequent W9s counting down to the last in order of build date and sequence. Each Kenworth W900 Legacy Edition will display its number with a badge on the glovebox. As reported from the show, the Legacy Edition is available in Extended Day Cab, 72-inch Flat Top (shown in the video), and 86-inch Studio Sleeper configurations.

There is Legacy Edition badging throughout the units, old-style Kenworth logos (the “Crooked KW”) and other touches that pay homage to the long history of the W900.

The Legacy Edition is the ninth limited-edition W900 in the model’s history, and to commemorate that, Kenworth is bringing back paint schemes from those past trucks for buyers to choose from.

To go along with the release of the special-edition truck, Paccar Parts unveiled a new line of accessories meant specifically for the Legacy Edition. The product line features the "Crooked KW" logo, including on interior and exterior accessories, spray suppression and door projector lighting. Some of the special products are featured on the truck in the video.

"Over the years, the iconic W900 has garnered a dedicated following with generations of enthusiasts," said Genevieve Bekkerus, Paccar Parts senior director of marketing. "We’re pleased to offer this line of accessories that celebrates the treasured history of this limited-edition truck."
