Shell and WEX have teamed up to launch of their new and improved Shell Card. Shell and WEX launched their first commercial fleet product in 2018.
The new cards will replace the Shell Fleet Plus, Shell Small Business and Shell Fleet Navigator cards. Head of Shell Fleet Solution U.S. Mohamad Kabbani said the new and improved Shell Card is more than a fuel card and more than a way to save on everyday fleet expenses. Benefits include fuel rebates, payment flexibility, access to loyalty offerings, maintenance discounts and more.

Savings, security and electrification are among the biggest concerns for fleet operators, according to Shell's most recent Fleet Trends survey.
The Shell Card features tiered rebates on the fuel drivers buy at Shell stations every billing cycle (up to 5-cents per gallon for Shell Card Business Flex and up to 6-cents per gallon for Shell Card Business. Shell Card Business Flex users are eligible for additional rebates of 3-cents or 5-cents per gallon at participating Shell rebate bonus locations, which can be found on the Shell station locator or WEX DriverDash app.
Shell Card Business Flex now supports fuel purchases at more than 95% of U.S. gas stations and public EV charging stations nationwide, which can be located on the WEX DriverDash app. The card enables payment at a comprehensive network of EV charging stations, including Shell Recharge, Blink, AmpUp, ChargePoint, EVgo, EV Connect, Flo with more to come. Both fuel and EV charging purchases are combined within billing statements, reporting, and data usage.
Through DriverDash and WEX’s RFID technology, the Shell Card uses WEX’s closed loop payments network to increase the security of each transaction and to transmit charging behavior, driver identification information and vehicle mileage to the fleet manager.
WEX Senior Vice President and General Manager of EV and Mobility Jay Collins noted few EV solutions simplify charging for commercial drivers and allow fleet managers access to line item charging detail, vehicle performance, and unified billing regardless of charging brand — "and even fewer regardless of charging location,” he said, adding WEX’s EV solutions accomplish this, "while also integrating with metrics from traditional fuel vehicles across a single credit line, invoice, and backend software portal."
Other benefits of the new card program include preventive maintenance services through the Jiffy Lube Fleet Program, including discounts of up to 20% at participating Jiffy Lube locations. The customizable program helps avoid interruptions to fleet operations and offers flexibility over services, billing, payments and scheduling. The Shell Card also offers Fleet Rescue 24/7 emergency roadside assistance for fleet vehicles, with mobile payment that eliminates out-of-pocket expenses for drivers.
The Shell Card and popular Fuel Rewards program can be used together, and when drivers enroll in the Fuel Rewards program, they can save at the pump for work vehicles and personal vehicles, while earning additional savings by purchasing select convenience store items, dining out at participating restaurants with a linked card, and shopping with partner brands.
Options for Class 1-6 vehicles
The new Shell Card includes fleet management tools in one online portal — on desktop or mobile — plus free paperless billing. Shell Card holders with large fleets can take advantage of access to dedicated account managers.
The Shell Card Business and Shell Card Business Flex programs are designed to better serve the unique needs of different fleets. Shell Card Business is best for small to mid-sized businesses with predictable fuel patterns, whereas Shell Card Business Flex is best for larger businesses with broader footprints and a need for tighter control over spend.
