Budreck Truck Lines names new CEO
Chicago-based refrigerated LTL specialist Budreck Truck Lines has named Tim Johnson president. He takes over the position from Budreck’s founder Bradley Subler, who will move into the role of CEO.
Johnson has been with Budreck since 1998, having served as general manager and director of sales since 2009. The decision to promote Johnson to the role of President comes as the company enjoys its busiest year in its 54 years of existence.
“Tim has a good connection with our customers, employees and owner operators. His door is always open, and his phone is always on for questions or concerns," Subler said. "There is no job that Tim will not tackle.”
Budreck Truck Lines is one of the Midwest’s largest asset-based refrigerated LTL carriers, with more than 100 owner operators and service to all 48 states. The family owned and operated company has added multiple lanes, built a state of the art 50,000 square foot cold storage and cross dock operation in 2015 and continues to add to its refrigerated logistics services.
Subler said he is pleased at the steady growth of his transportation company, which started with him as an owner operator in 1967.
“We started with me and a couple of other owner operators. I always tried to be fair and communicate with our customers and be honest and fast when paying our drivers," he said. "The success of Budreck was not totally in my hands. I owe so much to the great owner operators and employees that I have had through the years.”
Budreck began a short-term cold storage operation in 2019 that has helped capture an entirely new customer base and create many new refrigerated logistics opportunities. The idea of being able to provide local delivery, and drayage for out-of-town carriers has blossomed since the inception of the ELD Mandate. Johnson is encouraged with the initiation of the local deliveries. "We wanted to be a port in the storm for other long-haul carriers, and thanks to some of our carrier partners across the country, we were able to learn from the experts," he said.
Budreck has trucks delivering across Chicagoland daily, and this is a great addition to their Midwest Division. As for the future of this family owned and operated business, Johnson is excited for what is down the road. “Our excellent employees and hardworking operators make the possibilities endless, and no matter how technology based transportation is or may become," he said, "it’s still about people and communication.”
Transervice appoints new Controller
Transervice Logistics has appointed Susanne Raschner, C.P.A., to Controller. In her new position, she will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the company’s operations and directing all accounting department activities and reporting.
Raschner is an accounting professional with experience in various industries including manufacturing, distribution, real estate development, construction, real estate management, technology, portfolio companies and various service providers. She comes to Transervice from PKF O’Connor Davies where she served as Accounting Manager and Audit Supervisor. She has also held senior management and auditing positions with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, McGladrey and Pullen, LLP, GE Capital/Transamerica Business, PNC Business Credit and Wachovia Bank, N.A.
Arkansas Trucking Association elects new Directors to Board
Raschner is a Certified Public Accountant with M.S. Degrees from Long Island University in Taxation and Public Accounting. She received a M.S. Degree in Accounting Information Systems and a B.B.A. Degree in Finance from Pace University. She resides in Little Neck, N.Y.
Board Chairman Mark Morris, president and CEO of Hamburg, Arkansas-based Morris Transportation Services, was re-elected to a second term on the Arkansas Trucking Association Board of the Directors.
The following transportation professionals were elected to join the Arkansas Trucking Association Board of Directors: Michael Barr, CEO, JM Bozeman Enterprises Inc. – Malvern, Ark.; Rob Kibbe, Managing Director, Client Service Leader – Transportation & Logistics Practice, Aon – Little Rock, Ark.; Lance Moll, President & CEO, FedEx Freight – Memphis, Tenn.; Seth Runser, President, ABF Freight – Fort Smith, Ark. and Patrick Simmons, Vice President – Transportation, Tyson Foods, Inc. – Springdale, Ark.
Lance Moll replaces his FedEx Freight predecessor, John Smith, who earlier this year accepted the position of president and CEO of FedEx Ground in Pittsburg. Similarly, Seth Runser, fills the position left by outgoing ABF Freight President Tim Thorne, who retired in June.
