Daimler Trucks is recalling a few dozen Western Star 4900 trucks in which the weight of the front axle could exceed the spring capacity.
The recall affects approximately 38 model year 2017-2018 trucks manufactured between Nov. 18, 2016, and July 24, 2017.
The manufacturer says overloaded springs could cause the front axle to separate from the truck, causing a crash.
Daimler will begin notifying owners on Oct. 20 and will replace the axle springs for free. Owners can contact DTNA with questions at 1-800-745-8000 with recall number FL-745. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s recall number is 17V-521.
