Lytx, a global provider of video-based driver safety, announced that dedicated logistics provider Estenson Logistics and its partner company Truline Corporation have fully-deployed the Lytx DriveCam Program throughout their fleet of 900 vehicles.

Estenson and Truline explored the DriveCam Program and its combination of video, predictive analytics, and real-time driver feedback and coaching by starting with a trial at three of its large locations in California. It decided to fully deploy the program soon afterward because of the immediate positive impact they experienced, according to a press release by Lytx.

“We were concerned at first that our drivers would think of it as an intrusion, but when we explained how the technology works and kept our coaching focus on driver improvement and protection, our drivers really embraced the solution.”

The company has experienced a 70 percent reduction in near-miss collisions, a decrease in frequency and severity of events, the exoneration of a driver following a serious collision and a significant improvement in overall driving behavior fleet-wide.

“The results we’ve experienced using the DriveCam Program are pretty dramatic. Not only are we encouraging safety, we can actually change driving behaviors — and that’s what we’ve found most compelling. In fact, the one piece of feedback we keep getting back from our employees is, ‘It makes me a better driver,'” said Paul Truman, president of Truline Corporation and Estenson Logistics. “When you look at different returns on investment, whether they’re driver training systems or other technologies, you get the most for your money through the DriveCam Program. We’re excited to have it in all of our vehicles.”

“Reviewing the results of the trial and seeing the driver behavior changes is really what drove us to roll out the DriveCam Program throughout our entire fleet,” added Cevin Case, chief operating officer of Estenson Logistics. “We were concerned at first that our drivers would think of it as an intrusion, but when we explained how the technology works and kept our coaching focus on driver improvement and protection, our drivers really embraced the solution. Soon, we had drivers asking, ‘when can I get an event recorder in my truck?’”
