Zonar Systems (“Zonar”) confirmed that the company has filed a patent infringement action against Synovia Solutions LLC (“Synovia”). Zonar is seeking all available remedies including injunctive relief.

In the complaint, Synovia is accused of infringing U.S. Patent No. 6,502,030, a patent under which Zonar has developed and deployed its Edison Award winning Z Pass student ridership reporting solution.

“Zonar has made very significant investments in the development, deployment, and support of our Z Pass, ZTrak, EVIR, and other fleet management technologies,” said Chris Oliver, chief marketing officer of Zonar. “We believe very strongly that intellectual property protection is critical to innovation, and our customers’ interests are best served by enforcement of our IP.”

The case was filed in California, E.D.Cal, 2:14-at-00591.
