The average diesel price fell in all regions except New England, which might be seeing a bit of price pressure from pre-winter home heating oil buying. Prices were up just 0.5-cent in that region. The largest drop was 5.2 cents in California, which nevertheless still has the nation’s most expensive on average at $4.385 per gallon. The Gulf Coast region has the least expensive diesel on average at $3.999 a gallon and is the only region where the average price is below $4 a gallon.
