Los Angeles port posts record January volume

The Port of Los Angeles said the total number of 20-foot-equivalent containers increased 5.78 percent in January compared to January 2011. The port said the 698,715 TEUs is the highest total volume (imports, exports and empties) for January in its history.

Loaded imports increased 5.25 percent compared to last January 2011, while exports increased 5.9 percent. The port said the numbers marked the best January in its history with respect to exports and the total number of loaded imports and exports combined (624,821 TEUs).
