McLeod Software on Tuesday, May 25, announced its 25th year of providing software solutions to the trucking industry. Over the last 25 years, McLeod Software has grown into one of the nation’s leading transportation management software companies and a leader in providing document imaging and management software to the transportation industry.

In 1985, company Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer Tom McLeod sold and programmed the initial version of his dispatch and accounting package for a handful of trucking and brokerage companies. Today, McLeod Software serves hundreds of truckload and brokerage firms across the country from two corporate locations, one in Birmingham, Ala., and another in Salt Lake City.

“It is an honor to serve the people and companies that make up the trucking industry,” says McLeod. “Our customers are fantastic! As we reach this milestone, I think about the ‘Four Rules of Business’ that I developed over time, that have helped to drive the company to where it is today – spend less than you take in, do what you say you are going to do, know what you are doing, and treat everyone with dignity and respect. It is very important to surround yourself with good people, those who care about each other and our customers.”

Asked about his success over the years, McLeod cites several critical contributors. “My goal from the beginning was to always do the very best we can for each and every customer. It is important to listen to the customer and develop the software tools that are of value to running their business more efficiently and profitably.”

McLeod’s 25th anniversary celebration will culminate when customers, transportation industry leaders and participating vendors from across North America join the company’s staff for new product announcements, software training and practical “doing business” sessions at its annual Users’ Conference slated for Sept. 13-14 at the Sheraton-Birmingham Convention Center in Birmingham, Ala.
