Carl Heikel was named senior vice president of international operations for Mack Trucks Inc., effective April 1. Heikel will direct the activities of the Mack International Operations group throughout its extensive worldwide distribution network. He reports to Mack President and Chief Executive Officer Dennis Slagle.
Mack sells and services trucks in 45 countries. Mack says international sales have been an important part of its business for decades, and that last year the company was the largest North American truck exporter. The Mack brand is particularly strong in Latin America and Australia, and in recent years the company has focused on growing its presence in markets such as Africa and the Middle East.
Heikel has more than three decades of industry experience in Europe and Latin America, including senior management positions in Sweden, Peru, Brazil, and Mexico. Since 2004, he has served as president and CEO of Arrow Truck Sales. Heikel will be based in Greensboro, N.C.
