American Trucking Associations’ State Laws Vice President Bob Pitcher recently was named to the board of directors of the American Tort Reform Association, a national organization dedicated exclusively to tort reform through public education and the enactment of legislation.

The trucking industry works closely with ATRA in promoting tort reforms at the federal and state levels through ATA’s Insurance Task Force. Since its inception in 2002, ITF has contributed to reforming the civil justice system through successful tort reform campaigns across the country. ATA’s participation in ATRA, through the ITF, works to lower motor carriers’ insurance costs.

Pitcher has worked in ATA’s State Laws Department for more than 20 years, serving the past six years as vice president. He works at ATA’s headquarters building in Arlington, Va., and resides in Northern Virginia. In 2006, Pitcher was appointed vice chair of the Unified Carrier Registration Agreement board.
