Ground logistics and transportation services provider Crane Cartage announced the selection of Aljex as its transportation management technology partner. All of the CFS operations groups will use Aljex software in its North American truckload, dedicated fleet, ground logistics and commercial cartage operations.

CFS is the single-source provider of ground transportation and logistics services launched this year by logistics entrepreneur James Crane and a select management team. Crane established a reputation for transportation quality, service and innovation with EGL Inc., the logistics provider he founded in 1984 and sold for $2 billion in 2007. Crane serves as chairman of the board for the new company, which is based in Houston.

With this added venture, Crane now has more than 50 offices in 16 countries. Primary industry sectors served include oil, aerospace, technology, retail and transportation. The total service footprint for all of Crane’s companies includes all modes of transport, logistics, customs brokerage and end-to-end supply chain engineering and management. The CFS group is a ground transportation services and logistics group that maintains a neutral profile in the transportation sector.

“A smart, well-financed startup like Crane Cartage gets to build its operations with the very best options from the outset,” says Tom Heine, president of Middlesex, N.J.-based Aljex Software Inc., which provides hosted management software for freight brokers, third-party logistics and other transportation providers. “We’re very proud they’ve chosen Aljex.”
