Northland Insurance announces coverage enhancements for truckers

Northland Insurance has announced the launch of two non-fleet coverage enhancements to its transportation insurance offerings. Both are available now in many states, with a national rollout by the end of 2006.

  • Family emergency travel coverage supplements all non-fleet policies at no additional charge. Insured independent truckers will be allotted additional coverage to provide for the travel costs of family members visiting a trucker who is injured and hospitalized away from home.
  • The deluxe coverage endorsement is an optional endorsement that can be added to any non-fleet policy for an additional charge. Four new coverage extensions may result in a cost savings should an insured elect to purchase the endorsement. Coverage options include diminishing deductible for physical damage; aggregate deductible; personal effects coverage; and downtime loss and rental reimbursement coverage.
  • “These programs were designed in direct response to trucker needs,” says Dale Schueffner, vice president of agency services for St. Paul, Minn.-based Northland Insurance. “They add value to our products, especially when it comes to helping the small trucker. While other carriers offer some of the pieces, the value and breadth of coverage offered in these packages is currently unmatched.”

Northland Insurance, a subsidiary of St. Paul Travelers, provides property and casualty insurance products and services for owners and operators of commercial trucks, limousines and shuttle operations, owners of small businesses and others whose businesses include transporting people or goods.
