Recaro North America, a manufacturer of automotive and commercial vehicle seating, and LiquiCell Technologies, a manufacturer of comfort materials, recently signed a licensing agreement for the implementation of LiquiCell comfort technology in Recaro products.

As a result of the partnership, Recaro has incorporated LiquiCell as an optional feature for its Ergo commercial line of transit driver seats, which includes seven different seats used in a variety of applications, including trucks, buses, motor homes, rail and specialty vehicles.

LiquiCell is an ultra-thin, liquid interface technology designed to relieve the discomfort one experiences over time when their body is in contact with another object. When applied to vehicle seating, seat coverings or seat components, LiquiCell’s thin liquid-filled padding technology is designed to relieve the discomfort drivers and passengers experience over time while sitting.

“Accommodating transit drivers’ needs is imperative to us, and we offer a host of standard features and options that help us provide superior comfort,” says Brian Sabo, director of commercial sales for Auburn Hills, Mich.-based Recaro North America. “LiquiCell is a new special feature that is effective for drivers who sit in their vehicles for long periods of time and may experience discomfort.” As part of the agreement, all Recaro products using LiquiCell technology will feature the LiquiCell trademark.

“LiquiCell has successfully provided comfort in various other applications, such as wheelchair cushions, athletic equipment, footwear and automobile seating,” says Mike Arbeiter, president and founder of Minneapolis-based LiquiCell Technologies. “We’re confident the new Recaro seats incorporating LiquiCell will provide welcomed comfort to transit drivers.”
