Ryder System has announced that Charles B. Lounsbury, senior vice president of strategy, marketing and acquisitions for U.S. supply chain solutions, will retire from the company at the end of 2005.

Lounsbury is an industry veteran with more than 30 years of service as both a top executive and college and graduate-level professor specializing in transportation, logistics and supply chain management. In his current role with Ryder, Lounsbury has been responsible for targeted product placement and the acquisition process in support of the growth of the SCS business segment. Following his retirement, he intends to remain active within the industry as a consultant, guest lecturer and strategic adviser.

“Chuck’s experience and extensive industry network have contributed to our company’s ability to identify and match customer opportunities with innovative solutions that deliver high value to Ryder customers,” says Greg Swienton, chairman and chief executive officer of Miami-based Ryder. “Although we will miss Chuck’s experience and enthusiasm, he leaves a strong legacy of processes and capabilities in place.”
