Cancom Tracking has announced that Trimac Transportation Services — Canada’s largest provider of bulk trucking services, with operations from coast to coast — has entered into an agreement to add Cancom Tracking’s OmniTRACS real-time satellite fleet management system and WebTech’s Quadrant Transportation solution.

Cancom, in partnership with WebTech, worked to bring the Quadrant Transportation solution to Trimac, which plans to deliver a hybrid business tool by combining both satellite and cellular data communications. Trimac, currently using Cancom’s satellite tracking solution throughout North America, will enhance their fleet management efficiencies through automated hours of service, driver and vehicle performance, vehicle tracking and two-way communications, according to Cancom.

The driver performance data, which is received directly from the vehicle via the JBUS/J1708 engine computer, is designed to promote optimum driver habits, translating into savings in fuel consumption and vehicle maintenance.

“This will provide Trimac with a range of services designed to eliminate manual processing of paperwork, both from a driver and office administration perspective, while enhancing company bottom-line results,” says Mike Ham, vice president of Vancouver, British Columbia-based Cancom.
