Safe Reflections, a provider of reflective safety products to the occupational and consumer markets, announced that it has been awarded a patent for its Airex Breathable Reflective Trim, a reflective product for work wear.

The Airex trim, which the company says was developed in response to needs for a safety product that didn’t sacrifice comfort, utilizes 3M Scotchlite Reflective Material and replaces traditional solid reflective strips with a segmented patterned trim, making the garment lightweight and flexible while allowing for more airflow.

Available in a stock pattern, Airex also can be customized to incorporate images, words, logos and graphics, allowing customers to apply their own brand images. The product maintains its reflective brightness after 50 home washes, according to the company.

“While visibility has always been critical to workers’ safety, it used to come at the cost of comfort,” says Bob Koppes, president of Oakdale, Minn.-based Safe Reflections. “Airex Breathable Reflective Trim is revolutionary in how it improves garment flexibility, comfort and durability, which makes it more appealing to wear without sacrificing safety.”
