Tim Partin recently acquired Thermo King of Atlanta, Doraville (Ga.) and Greenville (S.C.) from longtime Thermo King dealer principle Bobby Williamson, who is retiring. The purchase doubles the number of facilities under Partin’s ownership.

“It is a great opportunity for growth of my business,” says Partin. “Geographically, it’s a contiguous expansion for us. I’m excited and honored to take over the solid business and customer base that Bobby has worked so hard to build throughout the years.”

The expansion adds nearly 60 employees, 14 mobile service trucks and locations in key areas of Georgia and South Carolina to Partin’s group. “The addition of Thermo King’s TriPac (auxiliary power) unit to our product offerings gives us even more growth opportunities with our new locations, as well as Alabama locations,” Partin says. “It allows us to approach the entire trucking industry – not just the refrigerated transport side – with a solution-providing product.”

Thermo King, a business unit of diversified industrial firm Ingersoll-Rand, manufactures transport temperature control systems for a variety of mobile applications, including trailers, truck bodies, buses, shipboard containers and railway cars. The company operates 10 manufacturing facilities and 17 parts distribution centers worldwide. Sales and service is provided by a global dealer network of 865 independently owned companies in 75 countries.
