Chrome Shop Mafia to perform $50,000 overhaul

Chrome Shop Mafia of Joplin, Mo., will renovate the 1979 Peterbilt belonging to the Castrol Big Honkin’ Truck Makeover contest winner, Jeff Fields of Tully, N.Y., BP Lubricants announced.

The makeover, valued at $50,000, will start by the end of December, and the redone truck will be unveiled to the world March 23-25 at the 2006 Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Ky.

Makeover sponsors include Airtab, Alcoa Wheel Products, Burdilla Lanser Technologies, Continental Tire North America, Grote Industries, Midnight Trucking Radio Network, National Seating, Pana-Pacific and Sirius Satellite Radio.

Chrome Shop Mafia/4 State Trucks, known for its award-winning truck renovations, will make over a new rig each week on the TV series “Trick My Truck,” scheduled to air on CMT.
