Shields Co., a manufacturer of industrial magnetic safety equipment, has been chosen by Atlanta-based Watkins Motor Lines to supply magnetic safety sweepers for use in the carrier’s 130-plus terminals nationwide.
Shields, based in Ventura, Calif., designs and manufactures industrial magnetic safety equipment for a variety of industries and offers magnets for all types of ferrous metal retrieval. Within the trucking industry, Shields magnets are mounted on terminal “switchers” and service vehicles; as these vehicles operate in and around the terminal and distribution areas, the magnets remove hazardous ferrous metal, thus eliminating injury to personnel, damage to equipment and costly downtime, according to Shields.
Watkins will use Shields’ Type ALT magnetic sweepers. “Watkins’ decision to choose us is simply one more testimonial to the effectiveness and quality of our products,” says Charlie Shields, the company’s chief executive officer. “We are manufacturing the most effective product of its type on the market using the most technologically advanced materials available.”
