Two Caterpillar managers recently were promoted: Karl Vandermyde, formerly manager of sales and product support-East, has been appointed manager of original equipment manufacturer (OEM) sales; while Michael D. Dutton — currently district manager for Europe, Africa and Middle East (EAME) residing in Dubai, United Arab Emirates — assumed Vandermyde’s former job in late summer 2005.

In his new role, Vandermyde will lead the OEM sales and product support team working with the Freightliner companies, International Truck, Ford and several specialty vehicle manufacturers that use Cat engines. Dutton will be responsible for on-highway sales activities and all commercial product support efforts in the Hartford, Conn.; Columbus, Ohio; Jacksonville, Fla.; and Charlotte, N.C. district team offices in the Power Systems North America sales organization.

“Both of these gentlemen are totally committed to world-class sales and product support,” said Jim McReynolds, general manager of Power Systems North America. “They possess team building skills and business acumen that will result in continued top-notch service for Caterpillar’s OEM partners and engine customers.”

Formed in the first quarter of 2005, the Caterpillar Power Systems North America department includes 11 district teams that cover truck engine fleet sales and all Caterpillar commercial engine product support. This customer/dealer support organization is comprised of on-highway marketing and OEM sales, consolidated commercial and on-highway product support marketing, engine warranty administration, merchandising program administration and the truck engine call center.
