Dave Berry, vice president of Swift Transportation in Phoenix, was elected 2005-2006 chairman of the Truckload Carriers Association this week at TCA’s Annual Meeting at the Bellagio Resort in Las Vegas.

A TCA board member for almost a decade, Berry served as first vice chairman in 2004-2005 and chaired the North American Transportation Management Institute.

Berry has worked in the trucking industry since 1973 and has been with Swift for the past 15 years.

Berry has chaired the Arizona Trucking Association and the Tax Policy Committee of the American Trucking Associations.

Berry said that as ever more regulations are heaped on the industry, it is more important than ever for TCA’s voice to be heard.

The new secretary is Kevin Burch, president of Jet Express in Dayton, Ohio. The new treasurer is Ray Haight, president and COO of MacKinnon Transport in Guelph, Ontario.

The new association vice chairman to ATA is Clifton Parker, president of G&P Trucking in Gaston, S.C. The new immediate past chairman is Lance Craig, president of Craig Transportation in Perrysburg, Ohio.
