Trucking news and briefs for Monday, Dec. 11, 2023:

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration on Thursday announced that the CI ELD Logs device by CV Options LLC has been reinstated to its Registered ELDs list.

The device was one of 10 removed from the list last week. FMCSA last week said it placed those ELDs on the Revoked Devices list due to the providers’ failure to meet the minimum requirements established in 49 CFR part 395, subpart B, appendix A (functional specifications for ELDs).

Any operations using the CI ELD Logs device can now put it back into service after having to revert back to paper logs or logging software over the last week.

FTR will host a complimentary Transportation Outlook webinar on Thursday, Jan. 11 at 11 a.m. Eastern, that will focus on key factors affecting freight demand in the trucking, rail and intermodal sectors. The webinar is open to all.

The webinar, â€śTransitioning to Growth in 2024,” will examine some of the key risk factors facing the rail and intermodal space over the next year so that shippers and carriers can be tuned into the metrics most likely to signal a change is imminent. Meanwhile, trucking has been stuck in an uncharacteristically stagnant period of weak market conditions. The webinar will explore some key variables that could lead to an inflection, including economic forces that bolster or deflate freight demand.
